Someday Which is the Now
"It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re 17 and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.
We spend so much time wanting, pursuing, wishing. But ambition is good. Chasing things with integrity is good. Dreaming…
If you had a friend you knew you’d never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it, do it, don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever.
Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want. Everything you want.
Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true.
You never know where the next miracle’s gonna come from.
The next memory. The next smile. The next wish come true.
But if you believe that it’s right around the corner.
And you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it. To the certainty of it.
You might just get the thing you’re wishing for.
The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it.
So make your wish ... Do you have it?
Good. Now believe in it.
With all your heart."
~Cast of One Tree Hill Season 9
This is my favorite quote from the 2000's show One Tree Hill
that embodies my idea and wish of someday.
Someday...the moment and future that seems
almost impossible. But in a rare moment you can
see the far distant future and it is beautiful.
My someday is rare, vibrant, and full of laughter;
nothing can tear it down or corrupt my thunder.
In my someday I will be fearless, compassionate, and
loving; there will be no records of wrong and I will
be seen for who I truly am. Where I am in life right now,
I can't see it. I can't see my life moving or going forward, but
I came across a verse that helps to make more sense out of life.
"Jesus replied, "You do not understand now what I am doing,
but someday you will."
~John 13:7
......
I started writing this post about 3 months ago when life seemed
empty and confusing, so I decided to stop writing.
I'm glad I did.
If I kept writing it would have gotten depressing, empty, and
it would have destroyed everything this blog is supposed to
represent. I think I envisioned what my "someday" should look
like instead of seeing the potential of the now.
I just came back from a mission trip to the Navajo Indian
Reservation, where we spent 14 days in the desert.
During those 14 days we hosted a Vacation Bible School
and worked on some service projects. Since the day I came
back from the trip, things have changed, life has changed. Life
is clearer and easier to understand. Life is not about me,
it's not about your either; life is about serving those
around us and I think that is why I enjoy Arizona so much.
When I am there you get up when the sun comes up, which is
at 4:30am, and I will go, go, go until the moon and stars are
staring me in the eyes as I close them to fall fast asleep.
During the day and night time hours kids are always near and
I have and will continue to love every minute that I get to
spend with them.
I have learned that life is delicate, soft, and sometimes
breakable; so I want to be careful with it.
I came across this quote by C.S. Lewis that embodies
the true purpose and journey through life. As explained and
described in previous post life is messy and uncertain, but
all in all it is a journey.
....
"Look for yourself, and you will find in the long run only hatred,
loneliness, despair, rage, ruin, and decay. But look for Christ,
and you will find Him, and with Him everything else thrown in.
C.W. Lewis
.....
A friend reminded me tonight that our actions and words can
inspire or demolish a life. We have the power of life and death
in our words and actions, it is up to us to choose good, choose
life.
This post started as me complaining about what I don't have in
life and I ended up writing about what I should have been writing
about what is important. The important thing is the here and now.
So, love God and love others. Then, wait. You will begin to
see the positive choices, trends, and movements. By serving
and loving others we can only change their world, but ours as
well!
