LOVE

I have been battling what to write about for a week or two now. One thing that has grasped my attention is LOVE. Love is something amazing and extraordinary, so much deeper than we could ever imagine. It is simple but complex. I know for sure that Jesus Christ is my one and true love. 

In 1 John 4 :7 -8 John describes God's love for us:
7Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

 I want this type of deep love to be between me and God but I want a similar "love" in my relationships. 
A psychologist by the name of Robert Sternberg developed what is known as the triangular theory of love; his three components are passion, commitment, and intimacy. I am not going to emphasize all three parts of his theory but passion and commitment are the most important components. When you have passion for Jesus Christ you set forth to know all you can about to be in a relationship with him. Commitment is the "glue" that is needed in relationship between you and God and in any relationship. To be committed there must be no fear, John talks about this in 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love".  

 We tend to work on our Earthly relationships more than we do with Christ. God is there for us no matter what..if everyone else in this crazy world fails you and everyone and everything is against you...God is gonna be there 24/7. Deuteronomy 31:8 "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” 

I love how this verse is very direct saying no matter what God is going to be there. I could leave Jesus but yet his love and mercy still remains. Remember God's love is stronger than any other love. His love will set you free, bind you up, and will never perish. If you have this love of Jesus Christ living inside of you PLEASE share it with others around you!!

Perfection....That's Overrated!!

    Everyone tries to obtain this sense of "perfection". Let me tell you...there is no such thing. In our minds we have a vision of what our lives should look like and then we try to perfect it. For me perfection is straight A's, a 4.3 GPA, a great relationship, and to have plenty of time on my hands. Unfortunately none of these things are true right now. We are persistent constantly trying to "tweak" things in life. Can we let go and just let God take the rains for once? I love how C.S. Lewis puts this into perspective. So let God take hold of your life and try to sit back and enjoy the ride you never know you may enjoy it!! Each time you fall He'll pick you up. S.A.F.E.

Let's be SAFE! That is what the media, our community, and the nation has been saying for almost a week now. We all realize that we MUST practice social distancing so we can protect ourselves and others from COVID-19.  We keep using this word safe which often times puts us in this small box that we have to hide everything in...we have to keep it all to ourselves and we do not share with others.
